Once Upon a Time in Inglewood California

Once Upon a Time looks back at Howling Monk, mainly at the now closed Howling Monk JazzCoffeeBar. Those were the days my friend.

But, now's the time!

Today Howling Monk aspires to be the best site on the worldwide web. Why not? It's curiosity, information and entertainment. It's about you hanging out at a web site thats like a friendly neighborhood coffeehouse. Yes. The doors are open to all and so many points-of-view get expressed. But no harm is ever intended because serving you is what matters most.

Who am I?

I'm Ken  Moore, the owner of Howling Monk. Yes, Howling Monk JazzCoffeeBar is closed now. Yet there are so many fond memories of those days  and of the people who helped make them that I recall them often. Time moves on and most of mine is spent keeping the coffee side of the business going, maintaining this web site and producing an occasional concert.

The name "Howling Monk" is a tribute to legendary bluesman Howling Wolf, to jazz genius, Thelonious Monk and to all people who use their time, energy, talent; indeed whatever they have, for good. Howling Monk personifies the mission to promote what Duke Ellington called a "jazz state of mind." That means seeking inspiration in ones creative expressions with the goal of bettering the community-at-large.

With your help; with your frequent visits, and with your purchases of Howling Monk Coffee along with our other products and services, the Howling Monk mission can be fulfilled. 

With this, the first posting of the year, updates will now be monthly. The content will remain eccentric because that keeps things lively. So please dig in today and come back tomorrow for some more.
